Dancing with the docs is an annual fundraiser supporting patient care and research at The Ottawa Hospital. Based on the TV series Dancing with the Stars, physicians and researchers at the hospital are paired with professional dancers and train hard for months to compete to win the coveted Medicine Ball.

Our photo booth snapped and printed branded photos and guests could share them instantly to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with our social media kiosk.

Over the course of the evening, hundreds of guests stopped by to take their photo resulting in over 560 printed pictures and tens of thousands of impressions on social media. The Ottawa Hospital Foundation benefited from an increase in brand awareness while guests had a blast with our photo booth.

Indeed it is – we have noticed that our hashtag printer is more popular than ever!

Quoting a Forbes.com articleThe whole scenario is rather ingenious because the technology encourages social media exposure of an event and/or brand while also offering a printed souvenir from the event. The prints, themselves, can even be branded. More importantly this is about technology driving engagement and impressions.

Our hashtag printer was provided during a month long activation for an event hosted by the German Embassy as part of the Canada 150 celebrations.  As one of the title sponsors for the event, Siemens Canada wanted to enhance the experience and provide a social media tie in to further their on-site brand messaging.

Guests visiting the pavilion were invited to post their experience to Twitter and tag it with #siemens150 – by doing so, their photo was automatically displayed on the hashtag printer’s touch screen and users were also automatically entered in a draw to win a drone!  The guests could then find their photo, print it and walk away with a great souvenir.

Custom branding was added to the hashtag printer kiosk exterior, branding was included on the physical print outs as well as on the kiosk screens.

One of the many exciting activities organized by Ottawa 2017 was the Stanley Cup® 125th Anniversary Tribute Concert.  The show included tales of Stanley Cup glory by six of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in history (Dave Keon, Mike Bossy, Guy Lafleur, Frank Mahovlich, Bernie Parent and Bryan Trottier).  Artists like Metric, The Sheepdogs, Bobby Bazini and Kevin Bazinet also rocked the Canadian Tire Centre Place later on that night!

In the main lobby, fans lined up to our booths to photograph themselves with the Stanley Cup and instantly receive their 4×6 print to keep as a great souvenir of the event. Many of them also shared their photo on their social media accounts with our kiosks.  Two photo booths paired with two printers each were on site to speed up the process and to ensure that every fan got a chance to get their picture with the Cup.

NHL legends were special guests during the VIP event in another location and they too snapped many pictures with our booth! Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson and the Governor General of Canada, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, also took part of the celebration!

An exciting evening for hockey fans for sure!


Animated GIF’s have been around for a long time and we’ve decided that it was time to incorporate this fun feature to our photo booths!  A series of pictures are taken and our system automatically converts them into an animation which guests can then share with their friends on social media or email.  Branding can also be added giving your company or event greater visibility. That’s not all!  Once the guests have shared their short clip, a branded print of all the images can also be printed as a takeaway.

One Young World organizes annual Summits where the most valuable young talent from global and national companies, NGOs, universities and other forward-thinking organisations are joined by world leaders.  At the Summit, delegates debate, formulate and share innovative solutions for the pressing issues the world faces.

Speakers such as Kofi Annan (7th Secretary-General of the U.N.), Mary Robinson (Former President of Ireland), Harley Finkelstein (CEO at Shopify), Vinicio Cerezo (Former President of Guatemala), Cher (Singer & Oscar Winning Actress), just to name a few were present to lend their global stature to the delegate’s views and inspire them to create positive change.

During the 2016 Summit held in Ottawa, we provided our photo and social media kiosks to be used as networking tools for the hundreds participants present.   The delegates used our photo kiosk to take their pictures and then type their contact information on the touch screen.  This information was automatically applied to the final photo to be used as ‘photo contact cards’.

The delegates could then share their photo, complete with their contact information, with others either by giving them an actual 4×6 print or electronically by using our social media kiosk.  We have to say that this was an excellent way to help them ‘put a face to a name’ and everyone had a great time exchanging their new unique photo contact cards!

Full branding was provided which included custom screens, photo and social media kiosk custom panels, custom graphics applied to the photos (electronic and print), signage as well as programmed messaging on social media and email.  Needless to say, the One Young World brand and the sponsor was highly visible during those 4 days!

Dress up for a good cause!  The Loft, in partnership with the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, presented the 2nd Annual Loft Gala on April 30th, 2016 at The Hilton Lac Leamy.  The Loft Gala has quickly established itself as one of the most prestigious annual events in the National Capital Region and is a distinguished celebration of fashion, art, culture and live music.

For the second year in a row, we were on site with our photo booth, social media kiosks as well as with our Hashtag Station.  To help increase the ‘Wow!’ factor and give more sponsor visibility, we provided the Loft Gala with our complete branding solutions.  This meant that all of our equipment, all printed photos, all social media photo shares, all hashtag prints and more were branded for the event!

Immediately after the guests took their picture in front of the media wall, they were uploading their branded photos to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with our social media kiosks.  We even added preprogrammed hashtags and handles to the messages to ensure maximum visibility of the Loft Gala on social media.  In the 4 hours of operation that night, we generated a direct initial social media reach of over 30 000 users and over 350 photo activations!

As part of our Event Marketing Solutions package, O-Zone Productions recorded the whole event including ‘before and backstage’ scenes for an upcoming promotional video for the Loft Gala.  We can’t wait to see the final product!

The University of Ottawa (uOttawa) reached out to us to be a part of their Spring Open House on March 19th 2016.  Some of the activities that took place were an information fair, faculty guided tours, presentations, demonstrations, and of course contests like a draw to win a $1000 admission scholarship!

To help engage attendees and amplify the University’s social media presence, we provided the Hashtag Station to monitor and print branded photos tagged with #DiscoveruOttawa and #DécouvrezuOttawa. As guests used their own devices to take photos and tagged them on Instagram and Twitter they were automatically eligible to win prizes and also they got to take home some unique branded photo keepsakes because we printed their pictures!  Those who didn’t have a smartphone could use our photo booth and upload their photos to Instagram or Twitter with our social media kiosk!

This was a great way to engage guests and get them to talk about the University on social media.  We are extremely happy that we were able to help them in their campaign and we hope to be part of it again next year!

In preparation for prom 2016 and just in time for the dress hunt, Hudson’s Bay, Canada’s iconic department store launched their prom collections for millennial girls.  In celebration of this launch, they hosted Prep for Prom at 23 locations nationally on March 5, 2016.  There was a prom fashion show modelled by local high school students, cosmetic outposts by MAC, DJ’s playing the best tracks, custom corsages with local florists created on site and of course our photo booth!

To help Hudson’s Bay engage and encourage social conversation we provided our social media kiosk which also complimented the photo booth entertainment.  With our kiosk on site, guests shared their digital photos to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Email.  Besides the digital copy that was shared, fans left with a branded takeaway to remember their time at the event.

Twitter and Instagram were also programmed to automatically add #HBpromsquad and @hudsonsbay to each activation. This gave Hudson’s Bay added visibility on social media and also provided them with an opportunity to directly interact with their guests.

The initial social media reach was close to 10 000 in less than two hours and of course as people keep sharing, liking and commenting on the posts, this number will continue to increase substantially.

Our photo booth was provided to snap and print photos in front of the Bud Light backdrop. Guests received a beautiful Bud Light / Tailgators branded 4×6 print and all photos were automatically uploaded to the Tailgators Facebook page, providing additional content and the ability to share, comment, and like the photos at and after the event.
